We’ve all been there. We haven’t been consistently using skin care products for the past several weeks that sculpt and lift and tighten, but for this day we really want to look like we have sculpt and lift. Here’s a fast temporary fix for that!
All you need is two products: a contour and a highlighter.
If you have products that are specifically contour and highlighters – great! If you’re asking “what’s a contour and highlighter?”, no worries. Here’s some products that work just as well:
For contour you can use a powder, foundation, or bronzer that is 2 shades darker than your skin tone.
For highlighter you can use a powder, foundation, concealer, or blush that is 2 shades lighter than your skin tone.
Apply the contour slightly above your cheekbone beginning at your hairline where your ear connects to your face and bring it halfway to the front of your face. Use a makeup brush to blend.
Next, apply the highlighter just above where you applied the contour and blend that with a makeup brush or fingertips.
Can you see the difference? Can you see how the left side of my face (your right) has a little more lift to it?
Why this works: Lighter colors reflect the light and bring the eye forward while darker colors create the illusion of shadow that tricks the brain to put the darker color in the background.
For instance: If you want to make your nose look narrower, use a contour on the sides of your nose and a highlighter along the front of your nose. Then blend and watch the illusion take shape in the mirror.
